Weekly Happenings ~ July 29nd, 2026

Greetings Templeton Fish and Game Members, Guests, and Community Members!
A lot to cover this week, but we thank you for reading and keeping up with everything happening around the Templeton Fish & Game Club! Updates from the Members meeting on Monday, July 27th: Thank you to Brenda Melanson and Dena St. Pierre for making our first Christmas in July vendor fair a success. The vendors want to come back next year, and the club netted $700 on a damp, rainy day!
The Templeton Fish & Game Club recently hosted the Senior Chicken BBQ and fed over 200 seniors from the Gardner Senior Center – our small, but mighty crew cooked 200 chickens – Sue Miganowicz and Bernie Nowlan manned the pit – and many others inside and out helped make the day a huge success. Thank you to Greg Huellette, Nomand Cormier, Ricky Leger for moving all of the tables for the event. Roger Henri and Pat Richard were in the kitchen and did a tremendous job - thank you to anyone else we missed - your efforts do not go unnoticed!
Notice to all Golf Cart and other Vehicle operators - please do NOT ride on anyone's property or grass to avoid the speed bumps on Club Road or Rainbow Drive - the speed bumps are intended to slow folks down on our roads, not to reroute you onto others' property. Thank you in advance.
The Summer Music Series continues this weekend as well! On Sunday, July 26th, Scott Alan Savoy returns to the Pond View Pub beginning at 2:00 PM. The summer music series is open to the public, so come down and see what the Templeton Fish & Game Club has to offer.
We have another fun event planned for you coming up on Saturday, August 15th featuring the Rusty Truck Saloon Band with special guest Lisa Ross – the Mr. Cheese Food Truck will also be here serving up yummy cheese offerings. Food will be available starting at 5:00 and the band will play from 7:00 - 10:00. Outdoor beer tent and CASH ONLY bar will be available. FREE admission - bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the show! No outside food or beverages allowed.
Our very popular Annual Fish Fry is coming up on Sunday, August 16, featuring fried haddock, french fries, and coleslaw for $17 per serving. Serving begins at 1:00 PM, with live music by Dave Malouin at the Pond View Pub to follow at 2:00. As of Monday, there were only six remaining tickets for the Fish Fry available. This event sells out every year, so don't wait—get your tickets today! Anyone interested in playing American Mah Jong on Thursday nights is welcome to join in on the fun from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the Clubhouse. New players are always welcome, and we will teach you how to play! You can learn more about the game by clicking here!
The Queen of Hearts was found in just her 3rd week back, but we are starting this Friday again with an opening jackpot of $500! Stop by the club as we work our way toward another big jackpot. The Queen is drawn every Friday evening at 7:00 PM sharp.
Reminder, The Templeton Recreation Department Swim Lessons continue this week. Please be mindful that the beach will be in use for lessons Monday through Thursday from 1:00–4:00 PM through Thursday, August 6. We are proud to partner with the Town of Templeton to help ensure residents of all ages have the opportunity to learn essential water safety and swimming skills. We look forward to seeing everyone at the club for another fun-filled week!
IMPORTANT NOTICES TO ALL MEMBERS
The Fools just dropped their new album and our very own Eric Adamson is a member of the band. CD's are now available for puchase - Eric was happy to report that a new dock has been purchased and installed at the end of Rainbow - thank you to all those that purchased and contributed. If you are interested in purchasing a CD, please contact Eric to get yours now!
Our Annual Fishing Derby is back now through Labor Day - please record your catches on the sheet in the club. Prizes for Adult and Child with the largest catch of the year. MEMBERS MEETING - Our next members' meeting will be held on Monday, August 31st, starting at 6:30. Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Templeton Fish & Game Club should submit their application to our membership secretary. Members are sworn in monthly at our meetings! All new members must be sponsored by a current member of the Club! You can find membership details and the application on the membership page of our website!
From Eric, our DEP Liaison: Bravo to all of our camp owners! For the first time in 18 years, we achieved 100% compliance with our annual septic inspections. We sincerely appreciate your diligence in ensuring your septic alarms are functioning properly and for complying with Board of Health requirements over the years. Let's work together to make this an annual tradition. Thank you to everyone for your commitment to protecting our grounds and the environment.
Reminder Regarding Lot Measurements and Improvements: Lot lessees who would like to have their lot measured should contact the Lot Committee. While you are welcome to hire a licensed surveyor at your own expense, the Lot Committee maintains records and information for each lot and should be your first point of contact. Please also remember that all land is owned by the Templeton Fish & Game Club. As a result, any alterations, improvements, or modifications to your lot must be reviewed and approved by the Lot Committee before any work begins. This process helps ensure compliance with Club policies and protects the interests of all members. Thank you in advance for complying.
Weekly pond water testing begins this week and will continue through Labor Day. Testing is completed by Nashoba Analytical in Ayer, with results reported to both Town Hall and the State to ensure the water remains safe for all recreational activities. You may also notice new swan decoys at the beach area. These are in place to help deter geese from pooping in the beach area. Please do not touch or play with the decoys.
CONTACT UPDATE: Do you need to update your mailing address, email, or phone with the club? Please use our contact update form located on our website! You can find the form on our Member Forms page. If you know someone not getting these Weekly Happenings, they can sign up to receive them by visiting the "Weekly Happenings Sign-Up" page on our website! You can also read an online version of the Weekly Happenings that will be posted every Wednesday afternoon on the homepage of our website after the emails are sent.
